This 1962 Chevrolet Impala has been with its current owner for 13 years, during which it is said to have undergone sheet metal repair and a repaint in Cameo White over a red cloth and vinyl interior. The car was refinished for a second time under current ownership following fire damage sustained in a 2018 explosion, and concurrent service is said to have included brake and ignition work as well as replacement of the alternator, radiator, heater core, and mufflers. Power is provided by a 283ci V8 paired with a column-shifted two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. This Impala is offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with a set of stock wheels and hubcaps, uninstalled fender skirts, headliner trim, and a clean Minnesota title.
A 2018 house explosion caused by a liquid petroleum gas leak caused heat and soot damage throughout the body, which was subsequently stripped and repainted in its original Cameo White. The brightwork was also polished, and several windows replaced along with the door, trunk, and window seals according to the seller. Photos taken before and after the fire as well as during the refurbishment are shown in the gallery below.
Aftermarket 15″ wheels wear chrome center caps and Firestone tires. Stock wheels with full covers are also included in the sale, as is a set of uninstalled fender skirts. A front disc brake conversion has been carried out, and the rear shoes, wheel cylinders, and lines are said to have been replaced as part of the 2018 refurbishment along with the dual-circuit master cylinder and booster. Additional work included installation of new rear shocks and coil springs.
The red cabin features cloth and vinyl upholstery with striped inserts on the front and rear bench seats as well as color-matched door panels and darker carpets. A headliner has been partially fitted but needs to be finished, and its parts are located in the car’s trunk.
A repainted two-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer reported to read approximately 98k miles. Actual mileage is unknown. A Chevrolet AM transistor radio is fitted in the dash, and the heater core is said to have been replaced.
The 283ci v8 delivers power to the rear wheels through a two-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission. Service since 2018 reportedly included installation of an HEI ignition system as well replacement of the alternator, radiator, battery, spark plug wires, and mufflers. The engine can be heard revving in the video provided here.
A fluid service was performed in preparation for the sale. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below. A video showing the engine is provided below.
