This 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible was sold new from Murphy-Mahoney Chevrolet in Denver, Colorado, in June 1960, and was refurbished in the late-1990s under prior ownership. It is powered by a 348ci V8 topped with triple two-barrel carburetors and mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and it is finished in black with a black convertible top over red and white vinyl. Features include a top boot, a driver-side mirror, dual antennas, power-assisted brakes, and 14″ painted steel wheels with turbine-style polished covers as well as bench seating and a push-button AM radio. This Impala convertible was purchased by the seller in 2015 and is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in white, the body was repainted black in 1998 according to the seller. Equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, a top boot, quad headlights, chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, dual antennas, horizontal tail fins, and chrome moldings.
The 14″ painted steel wheels wear turbine-style chrome covers and are mounted with 205/70 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front and rear drum brakes.
The cabin features bench seating that was reupholstered in 1998 in red and white vinyl with patterned inserts. Interior appointments include polished dashboard trim, a push-button AM radio, a heater, and vent windows.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a semicircular chrome horn ring and fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, a warning light cluster, and additional gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 348ci V8 features triple Rochester 2-Jet carburetors and was factory rated at 335 horsepower.
The suffix “FE” corresponds with a 348ci V8 with three two-barrel carburetors and a solid-lifter camshaft for use with a manual transmission.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
