This 1958 Chevrolet Impala is powered by a 348ci V8 paired with a three-speed manual transmission and is finished in turquoise over black, gray, and turquoise vinyl and cloth upholstery. A floor shifter was added under previous ownership, and further equipment includes a curved windshield and back glass as well as power steering, 14″ steel wheels, and bench seats. Service in anticipation of the sale involved cleaning the fuel tank, servicing the parking brake, and replacing the left window along with the battery, brake master cylinder, fuel pump, radiator, and tires. The car is described as a running and driving project, and additional mechanical work is said to be required before further use. Recently acquired by the selling dealer, this Impala is now offered at no reserve with recent service records and a clean California title.
The Impala was introduced as the top trim level of the Bel Air lineup for 1958, and styling details included double headlamps, triple taillights, full-length side spears, and sculpted rear quarter panels with faux vents. This example was finished from the factory in Onyx Black and is said to have been repainted multiple times under previous ownership before being refinished in its current shade of turquoise. Dents, blemishes, and scratches are visible on the body panels and bumpers.
Body-color 15″ steel wheels wear chrome covers and were recently wrapped in Coker Classic whitewall tires. Braking is via drums at all four corners, and the car is equipped with power steering. The brake master cylinder booster and power steering fluid were replaced under current ownership.
The front and rear bench seats are trimmed in black vinyl with gray fabric inserts, and the door panels wear turquoise vinyl accents. A floor-mounted shifter was added under previous ownership, and the left window was replaced in anticipation of the sale. Additional equipment includes a heater, a clock, and an AM radio. The dashboard material is peeling, wear is noted on the door panels, and corrosion is visible on various metal surfaces.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. An aftermarket tachometer is mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 348ci Turbo Thrust V8 breathes through a four-barrel carburetor and a black-single inlet air intake system. Work in anticipation of the sale involved cleaning the fuel tank along with replacing the radiator, battery, coolant hoses, ignition cap and rotor, and fuel pump and lines. Additional mechanical work is said to be required before further use.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission. Rust is noted in the trunk floor panels, and additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
