This 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible is powered by a 348ci V8 backed by a two-speed automatic transmission, and a triple-carburetor setup has been installed in place of the factory four-barrel. Additional equipment includes power steering, power brakes, and a Continental kit. The car is said to have been refinished in Cashmere Blue during a refurbishment performed prior to the current owner’s acquisition in 2008. Fluid changes and gasket replacements reportedly have been performed in preparation for the sale. This Impala is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Michigan title.
Introduced for 1958, the first-generation Impala features quad headlamps, sculptured rear fenders, and model-specific triple taillights. Impala badging is located above the side spears and faux rear-fender vents. This example has rear fender skirts, and its Fisher-built body is finished in Cashmere Blue (910) and is believed to have been repainted as part of a body-on refurbishment performed during prior ownership. The seller notes that the door weatherstripping was replaced and the rear bumper was re-chromed since mid-2019. Corrosion development is shown along the undersides of the doors.
The white convertible top is power operated. Painted 14″ steel wheels are equipped with Chevrolet-branded covers and are mounted with wide-whitewall tires. A full-size spare with an older Firestone tire is housed in the Continental kit, and power-assisted drum brakes are fitted at all four corners.
The interior features medium blue upholstery with patterned cloth inserts on the front and rear bench seats (827). Matching blue carpets line the floor, and amenities include a day/night rearview mirror, a Wonder Bar AM radio, and an analog clock as well as a chromed tissue holder. A compass has been installed atop the dashboard. Carpet wear is noted in the driver’s footwell, and additional photos highlighting the cabin materials and finishes are provided in the gallery below.
The blue-painted dash features brushed-aluminum trim, and horizontal-oriented instrumentation includes a speedometer along with fuel-level and coolant-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer is unreadable and no longer functions according to the seller, who also notes that the radio, clock, windshield wipers, and power seat are inoperative.
The 348ci Turbo-Thrust V8 is equipped with three OEM-style Rochester two-barrel carburetors fitted under prior ownership and bears an H suffix on the pad stamping, which corresponds with a 250-horsepower version for Turboglide-equipped applications. The water-pump gaskets reportedly have been replaced, the fluids changed, and the engine compartment detailed since mid-2019.
