This 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe is powered by a 348ci V8 with three two-barrel carburetors, and it reportedly underwent a refurbishment under prior ownership that involved refinishing the car in red and refreshing the color-coordinated interior. Equipment includes a three-speed automatic transmission, aftermarket air conditioning, power steering, a dual exhaust system, power drum brakes, 14″ red wheels, whitewall tires, an electric clock, and a push-button AM radio. The car previously spent time in Oklahoma and was relocated to Alabama upon the seller’s acquisition in 2017. This first-generation Impala is now offered with Alabama registration in the seller’s name.
The Impala was first introduced in 1958, and this example was reportedly refinished in its current shade of red under prior ownership. Features include a broad grille, a wrap-around windshield, quad headlights, and chrome body-side trim, faux vents, and bumpers as well as Impala badging, alcoves that house triple taillights on each side, and a dual-outlet exhaust system that exits below the rear bumper.
Red-painted 14″ steel wheels wear bright covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. A full-size spare wheel wrapped with a BFGoodrich tire is positioned in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners.
The interior was refurbished under prior ownership and features bench seats upholstered in red vinyl with tri-tone cloth inserts complemented by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Features include aftermarket air conditioning, a heater/defroster, a lockable glovebox, an electric clock, vent windows, and a push-button AM radio.
The red and gray steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature as well as a dash-mounted ignition switch. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The 348ci Super Turbo-Thrust V8 was reportedly refurbished under prior ownership and breathes through three two-barrel carburetors and a dual-inlet air-intake system. Finned Edelbrock valve covers are fitted. The seller notes that the oil was changed most recently in January 2022.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Turboglide three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery below.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Alabama registration.
