This 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air Impala Sport Coupe is a two-door hardtop from the first year of Impala production that is finished in turquoise with a white roof and powered by a triple-carbureted 348ci V8 backed by a two-speed automatic transmission. The car was acquired by its Pennsylvania owner in 2016 and has since been relocated to Florida. Service by the seller’s shop, Island Automotive of Marco Island, included a tune-up, a carburetor rebuild, replacement of the thermostat and generator belt, and fluid changes in July 2020. This Impala is offered by the seller in Florida on behalf of its current owner with recent service records, fender skirts, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the owner’s name.
The Impala was introduced as the top trim level of the Bel Air lineup for 1958, and featured a shorter greenhouse as well as a longer rear deck and wheelbase than other models. Styling details included double headlamps, triple taillights, full-length side spears, and sculpted rear quarter panels with faux vents. This example is said to have been repainted while with a previous owner. Blemishes include chips on the roof as well as rust in the inner rear fenders and rocker panels.
Steel wheels wear chrome covers and older wide-whitewall tires. Braking is via unassisted drums at all four corners. Color-keyed rear fender skirts are currently removed but included in the sale.
The cabin is trimmed in turquoise vinyl with tri-tone fabric inserts and features a split front bench seat, a rear bench with a retractable armrest, and vinyl floor mats over matching carpets. Amenities include a dash clock and a period AM radio.
The body-colored dash wears wrap-around patterned metal accents and Impala glovebox lettering. A two-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal-sweep speedometer and a five-digit odometer showing 74k miles. Total mileage is unknown. The coolant temperature gauge lens is cracked.
The 348ci V8 features triple Rochester carburetors as well as a generator mounted in line with a power steering pump. A July 2020 service at the seller’s shop included replacement of the spark plugs, thermostat, coolant, battery, voltage regulator wiring, and belts.
Service records from the past two years are pictured individually in the gallery below.
