This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad was refurbished and modified under previous ownership by the seller’s shop in 2011, and was later acquired by the seller in 2021. The car is finished in black over gray upholstery and powered by a 383ci Chevrolet V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a custom dual exhaust system, 15″ wheels, adjustable coilovers, and four-wheel disc brakes in addition to an MSD ignition system, power steering, Classic Instruments gauges, and a custom stereo system. Fluids were reportedly serviced in 2021. This modified Bel Air Nomad is now offered with refurbishment photos and records as well as a clean California title in the name of the seller’s spouse.
The seller states the body was removed from the frame and placed on a rolling jig before metal work was performed. A repaint in Onyx Black was then completed using BASF Glasurit products. Equipment includes gold anodized trim and ribbed-aluminum tail-fin inserts as well as a sloped B-pillar, sliding rear side windows, and a hidden fuel filler incorporated into the driver-side tail-fin trim. Stone chips are noted around the body.
Steel 15″ Rally-style wheels wear Chevrolet-branded hub caps and are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with power steering as well as adjustable coilovers at all four corners. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs.
The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in gray with light gray cloth inserts. Replacement black carpets have also been added, and features include a custom center console, lap belts, and a Pioneer head unit with hidden speakers. The seller states air conditioning components are present, but the system is inoperable. Vintage Air climate control components are included in the sale.
The three-spoke steering wheel on a tilting column fronts a Classic Instruments 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer indicates under 7k miles, which is said to indicate the distance traveled since the refurbishment work was completed. True mileage is unknown.
The 383ci stroker V8 is reportedly equipped with a roller camshaft and rocker arms. Additional equipment includes an Edelbrock intake manifold, a carbon-style air cleaner cover, a Be Cool four-core aluminum radiator, electric fans, MSD ignition components, and a custom exhaust system with Doug Thorley headers, 3″ piping with a center X-pipe, and MagnaFlow mufflers. The fluids were last changed in 2021 according to the seller.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a Positraction Ford 9″ rear end. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
