This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible was purchased new from Miller Chevrolet in Grand Haven, Michigan and stayed with its original owner until 1963. The car is finished in metallic blue over matching two-tone interior, and power is from a 283ci V8 paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The sale also includes a 16′ Cadillac Lido aluminum-hulled speedboat that is finished in similar colors, powered by a 35-horsepower Johnson outboard engine, and carried on a single-axle trailer. The package is offered on consignment by the selling dealer in New Jersey with copies of purchase documents, an early logbook, and an owner’s manual for the car as well as a pair of water skis and Michigan titles for all three vehicles.
The car is finished in metallic blue and features bright double side moldings with ribbed insets. Discoloration is shown on the fender tops along with fading and wear-through on the trunk lid and tail fins. A spotlight is mounted through the left A-pillar, and a receiver hitch and trailer lighting harness are fitted beneath the rear bumper.
A new pump and lift cylinder for the motorized convertible top were installed in 2009. Body-colored steel wheels wear chrome covers with faux spinners and wide-whitewall tires.
Two-tone blue vinyl trims a pair of bench seats, which feature a split backrest and lap belts up front. Amenities consist of a push-button radio, a passenger-side clock and tissue box, a heater and defroster, and a prismatic traffic light viewer.
Round instrumentation includes a five-digit odometer showing 40k miles, 32k of which were driven by the original owner according to the included log. Total mileage is unknown. Pitting is shown in the painted dash along with cracks in its vinyl pad.
The 283ci V8 was equipped with a four-barrel carburetor from the factory and was rated at 220 horsepower when new. A two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission directs power to the rear wheels. An oil change was performed in 2019.
The 16′ 1957 Lido runabout was manufactured by Cadillac Marine and Boat Company of Cadillac, Michigan, and features a polished aluminum hull with blue painted accents on the foredeck and tail fins. The boat is equipped with a wraparound windscreen, running lights, and a bow flag, and is mounted on a single-axle trailer with a hand winch, roller bunks, hydraulic dampers, and taillamps.
The cockpit is trimmed in two-tone vinyl to match the car’s interior and features an automotive-style steering wheel, a hand throttle and shifter to the right, and an AquaMeter speedometer. The carpet-lined rear houses a fuel tank and battery against the transom. Power is from a 35-horsepower two-stroke Johnson outboard with unknown running time. A pair of water skis is included in the sale.
Copies of original purchase and finance paperwork detail factory equipment and a 1957 purchase price of $3k.
