This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air was produced at GM’s Flint, Michigan, facility, and it was acquired by the current owner in 2015. The car was subsequently refurbished and modified, with work that reportedly included exterior and interior color changes as well as the installation of a four-speed automatic transmission. Power is supplied by a 283ci V8, and additional equipment includes an Edelbrock carburetor, exhaust headers and Borla mufflers, 17″ wheels, a Custom Autosound stereo unit, and a Vintage Air climate-control system. This modified Bel Air is now offered on behalf of the current owner with a clean Iowa title.
The body was originally finished in India Ivory and Surf Green (813) according to the cowl tag, and it was repainted in its current black in 2016 according to the seller, who notes the floor and trunk pans were replaced at that time. Styling touches include an integrated front bumper and grille, twin “hood rockets”, and aluminum inserts with chrome edge trim for the rear tail fins.
The side mirrors are equipped with integrated turn signal indicators, and the finish is shown up close in the photo gallery below. Coys wheels wear a chrome finish and are fitted with 17″ General and Nitto tires. The car is equipped with drum brakes at all four corners.
Delivered new in a black and green (671) color treatment, the interior features replacement red upholstery sourced from Ciadella Interiors of Tempe, Arizona. Further additions include Vintage Air climate control and a Custom Autosound stereo equipped with auxiliary connectivity and linked to a pair of rear-mounted speakers.
Instrumentation consists of a combination speedometer and gear indicator flanked by fuel and temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 2,600 miles, with true mileage unknown.
The 283ci V8 is paired with a 2004R four-speed automatic transmission fitted in place of the factory two-speed Powerglide unit. An aftermarket intake manifold is topped with a single Edelbrock carburetor and a polished air filter housing, and an aluminum radiator is accompanied by a pair of electric cooling fans. Further additions include a serpentine belt and pulley system, Chevrolet-branded valve covers, and ribbed coolant hoses.
Aftermarket headers are linked to a dual exhaust system with Borla mufflers. Additional photos in the gallery highlight the condition of the underside.
