This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Townsman four-door wagon was reportedly refurbished in 1995 before being purchased by a relative of the owner approximately 20 years ago. The owner inherited the car in 2022, and the yellow and white paint was subsequently corrected and clear ceramic coating was applied. Power is provided by a 283ci V8 paired with a replacement TH2004R four-speed automatic transmission, and the interior is trimmed in black and yellow vinyl and cloth upholstery. Power-assisted front disc brakes have been added along with power steering, a digital cassette stereo, and an aftermarket under-dash air conditioning system. This Bel Air wagon is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean South Carolina title in the owner’s name.
The car was refinished in India Ivory and Colonial Cream in 1995 according to the seller, who also notes that paint correction was performed and ceramic coating was applied in November 2023. Features include tinted glass, a split tailgate, chrome trim, and a fuel filler concealed above the left taillight. Photos of paint meter readings around the body are provided in the gallery below.
The 14″ steel wheels wear full covers and are wrapped in 205/75 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes have been added.
The cabin features front and rear bench seats upholstered in yellow and black vinyl and cloth upholstery, and the rear bench can fold flat for additional cargo space. A Custom Autosound cassette stereo has been added along with an aftermarket air conditioner and heating unit. Cracks in the lower yellow vinyl are visible on the driver’s side of the bench seat.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by coolant-temperature and fuel-level gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.
The 283ci V8 is topped with a Rochester four-barrel carburetor. The replacement Walker radiator is accompanied by an auxiliary electric pusher fan. The dual exhaust system uses glasspack-style mufflers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH2004R four-speed automatic transmission.
