This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad is a two-door station wagon that was produced at GM’s Atlanta, Georgia, plant and was reportedly acquired by the current owner approximately 52 years ago. The car is finished in two-tone yellow and white over silver and black upholstery, and power comes from a replacement 283ci V8 paired with a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes Bel Air trim, body-colored 14″ steel wheels with polished covers, power-assisted brakes, a four-barrel carburetor, power steering, air conditioning, a padded dashboard, and a push-button AM radio. Work performed since 2021 is said to have included overhauling the engine, re-sealing the transmission, rebuilding the air conditioning compressor, and replacement of the tires. This Chevy Nomad is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean California title.
Originally ordered in Coronado Yellow with an India White roof (814), the car is said to have been refinished during current ownership. Exterior details include a driver-side mirror, sloped B-pillars, dual exhaust outlets, ribbed aluminum tail fin inserts, and chrome bumpers. Paint chips are noted on the driver-side fender and hood, along with bubbling on the solder joints of the pillars.
Body-colored 14″ steel wheels wear polished covers with simulated knockoffs and are mounted with Coker Classic wide whitewall tires that are said to have been installed in May 2021. Braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners.
The two-tone interior features front and rear folding bench seats trimmed in silver vinyl with black patterned cloth inserts, which are complimented by matching door panels and black carpets. Amenities include an analog clock, front vented windows, a padded dashboard, air conditioning, a heater, “Bel Air” dash badging, black Chevrolet-branded floor mats, and a push-button AM radio. The air conditioning system is said to have been serviced in May 2021, which included rebuilding the compressor.
A silver-finished steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer indicates under 3k miles, which is said to indicate the distance traveled since the refurbishment work was completed. True mileage is unknown.
A replacement 283ci V8 has been installed and features a four-barrel carburetor. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that service since 2021 has included overhauling the engine and re-sealing the transmission.
