This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air is a 2-door hardtop that underwent restoration in 2004 and was acquired by the seller in 2015. The car was reportedly refinished to factory specifications in its original Tropical Turquoise with gold exterior trim and features power seats, power steering, a Wonderbar radio, a tissue box, and more. Power is from a rebuilt 283ci V8 equipped with Power Pack cylinder heads and paired with a Powerglide automatic transmission. Less than 1,000 miles have been driven since completion of the work, which is documented with photos and receipts. The car is offered with a clean Utah title in the seller’s name.
The factory cowl tag indicates that this car was finished in Tropical Turquoise with an India Ivory roof from new, and it was repainted in the original colors during the rotisserie work in 2004. The factory chrome and polished stainless trim was refinished as described on the build sheet below.
Notable features for the 1957 model year included silver anodized beauty panels on the rear quarters along with California bumpers and gold trim on the fenders and grille. Body-colored steel wheels are fitted with chrome hubcaps and a set of Firestone wide-whitewall tires.
The interior features a front bench seats trimmed in turquoise vinyl with patterned fabric inserts front and rear. Equipment includes a power seat, Wonderbar radio, tissue box, and triple horns.
Detailed photos of the interior trim, controls, switchgear, and other surfaces can be seen in the gallery below. The odometer was reset following the restoration work and currently shows less than 1,000 miles. The seller has driven the car just 102 miles over the past three years.
The seller believes the 283ci V8 to be original to the car, and the engine is equipped with Power Pack cylinder heads, a 4-barrel carburetor, and dual exhaust. The engine is paired with a Powerglide automatic transmission and both were reportedly rebuilt as part of the updates in 2004 along with the braking system.
A framed build sheet is included in the sale along with a binder of photos showing the repaint and other work. The seller notes that the starter solenoid, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, and sending unit were replaced about two years ago.
The car has received multiple awards at venues and events including Bill Heard Chevrolet, Impala Bob’s All-Chevy Show, and Goodguys Scottsdale.
