This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad station wagon was assembled at GM’s Los Angeles, California, facility and underwent a custom refurbishment during prior ownership that included a repaint, replacement of the powertrain, and an interior refresh. The body is finished in blue and white, and power is provided by a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 mated to a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. Additional modifications and equipment include exhaust headers, an aluminum radiator, dual cooling fans, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and 18″ Budnik wheels as well as a center console, brown interior upholstery, Vintage Air climate control, power windows and door locks, cruise control, and an aftermarket stereo. The car was sold in 2021 by the selling dealer, who reacquired it in 2022. Driven approximately 4k miles since completion of the build, this modified Nomad is now offered with a clean Arizona title.
This car was originally finished in India Ivory and Turquoise (710) according to the trim tag, and was refinished in its current blue and white color during the refurbishment according to the seller. Features include a wrap-around windshield, “Bel Air” and “Nomad” badging, side mirrors, sliding rear windows, a two-piece tailgate, and twin tail fins with a concealed fuel filler under the left taillight assembly. The finish is shown up close in the photo gallery below.
Polished 18″ Budnik wheels are fitted with 245/45 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. Braking is provided by cross-drilled rotors paired with Baer calipers at all four corners, and the vehicle is also equipped with power steering.
The cabin features an adjustable front bench trimmed in brown upholstery, and the rear bench seat and interior panels are upholstered to match. The custom center console houses a Custom Autosound stereo and a USB charging port, and further additions include a three-spoke steering wheel, a Vintage Air climate-control system, cruise control, and power-operated windows and door locks.
Dakota Digital instruments are housed within the factory opening, and the six-digit odometer indicates that approximately 4k miles have been added since completion of the build. Total chassis mileage is unknown.
The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 was installed in place of the factory V8 during the build and features a cold-air intake, body-color engine cover accents, and headers connected to a custom dual exhaust system with electronically actuated cut outs. Cooling is from an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, and other features include a serpentine pulley system, a CPP brake master cylinder, and billet hood hinges sourced from Eddie Motorsports.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission.
