This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door sedan was refurbished and modified under previous ownership, which included refinishing the body in two-tone black and silver, fitting it to an Art Morrison chassis, and installing a 427ci small-block V8 mated to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end. Additional modifications include staggered-diameter Boyd Coddington wheels, aftermarket lighting, shaved door handles, Holley fuel injection, Wilwood disc brakes, adjustable coilovers, air conditioning, power steering, Classic Instruments instrumentation, a Hurst shifter, and an aftermarket sound system. The car was previously listed on BaT in January 2022 and in April 2023 before being acquired by the seller in August 2023. This modified Bel Air is now offered with a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.
The body was removed and refinished in two-tone black and silver under previous ownership. Exterior features include smoothie-style bumpers, bright window surrounds and trim, an electric windshield wiper conversion, aftermarket headlights, LED taillights, and shaved exterior door handles. Blemishes in the front bumper are shown in the gallery and paint bubbles are noted in the left door jamb and B-pillar.
Polished 17″ and 18″ Boyd Coddington wheels are mounted with Nitto NT555 tires. The body has been fitted to an Art Morrison chassis which is equipped with an adjustable coilover suspension and rack-and-pinion power steering. Braking is provided by Wilwood calipers over cross-drilled and slotted rotors.
The cabin features seating surfaces reupholstered in black and joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include an aftermarket center console, air conditioning, power steering, electric windows, a Hurst shifter, Lokar pedals, and a Pioneer stereo linked to Alpine speakers as well as a trunk-mounted Alpine subwoofer and AudioControl amplifier. A Holley EFI digital display is located in the glove compartment.
The black-rimmed steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames Classic Instruments instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 1,300 miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 427ci small-block V8 was installed under previous ownership and features Holley Sniper fuel injection, Air Flow Research aluminum cylinder heads, a Moroso deep-sump oil pan, tubular headers, a dual exhaust system, an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, an MSD alternator, and polished underhood accessories.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end. Additional images showing the condition of the underside are included in the gallery below.
