This 1956 Chevrolet 210 Townsman is a four-door station wagon that has reportedly remained in the seller’s family for over six decades and is finished in silver over a Charcoal interior. Power is provided by a 265ci V8 mated to a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission, and additional features include bright trim, a split tailgate, and 15” steel wheels with chrome covers in addition to a non-functional FrigiKing under-dash air conditioning unit, a folding rear bench, front lap belts, and rubber floor covers. This 210 wagon was acquired by the seller in 2003 and is now being offered with a clean California title.
Finished from the factory in Inca Silver (752), the body was repaired and repainted in 1998. Exterior details include a fender-mounted antenna, Chevrolet badging, a driver-side mirror, and bright moldings as well as a fuel filler hidden behind the left-rear taillight.
Body-color 15” steel wheels wear chrome covers and are mounted with 215/75 Kelly Citation tires. A full-size spare is stored beneath the rear cargo floor. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and the car rides on independent front suspension with coil springs along with a solid axle and leaf springs out back.
The cabin houses two rows of bench seats that are trimmed in charcoal and beige vinyl and fabric upholstery accompanied by matching door panels. Equipment includes rubber floor covers, a folding rear bench, a left-side throttle-pedal adapter with a cover, vent windows, front lap belts, and an aftermarket FrigiKing air conditioner that is currently not functional. The seller notes that the headliner has been replaced and the AM radio is inoperative.
The two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring wears an aftermarket wrap and frames 110-mph speedometer with inset coolant-temperature and fuel-level gauges. Auxiliary Stewart-Warner instruments including an ammeter and oil-pressure gauge are mounted below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, around 2,400 of which have been added during current ownership.
The 265ci V8 is equipped with an oil-bath air cleaner assembly and Chevrolet-script valve covers. Factory-rated output was 162 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. A leak from the transmission is noted by the seller, and the muffler and rear exhaust pipe have been replaced.
