This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad was acquired by the seller on BaT in May 2020 following the installation of a fuel-injected 350ci V8 and a four-speed automatic transmission in addition to a repaint in blue-green. Work since the seller’s acquisition involved overhauling the cooling system with a revised radiator and dual electric fans. Further modifications include black and gray upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, Vintage Air climate control, an aftermarket instrument cluster, and a Boss head unit linked to aftermarket speakers. American Racing 17″ Torq Thrust wheels, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and revised suspension with Bilstein shocks are also fitted. This modified Nomad is now offered with a clean Arizona title in the name of the seller’s trust.
The car was refinished in its current shade of blue-green by Carolina Rod Shop in Piedmont, South Carolina in 2002. Details include replacement chrome bumpers, wraparound rear windows, and a hinged rear tailgate.
American Racing 17″ Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with Kuhmo Ecsta ASX tires. Power steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes are equipped in addition to revised suspension with Bilstein shocks.
The power-adjustable front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in black and gray upholstery that extends to the door panels. An aftermarket center console with cupholders is fitted along with a Vintage Air climate control system and an aftermarket sound system.
The three-spoke body-color steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and sits ahead of an aftermarket gauge cluster with a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 6k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown, and the seller notes that the tachometer is not connected.
The 350ci V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1996 Corvette and installed by Carolina Rod Shop under prior ownership. Following the seller’s acquisition, the cooling system was overhauled with a revised radiator and dual electric fans.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end. The frame was powder-coated under prior ownership, and a dual exhaust system is equipped.
