This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible was acquired by the seller in 2021 and subsequently was modified with the installation of a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 paired with a four-speed 4L60E automatic transmission. Other work involved replacing the power-operated white convertible top, retrimming the red and white leather upholstery, and fitting QA1 front coilovers and tubular controls arms, a narrowed Ford 9” rear end, and power-assisted Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes. The car is finished in red and white, and additional equipment includes Intro 22″ wheels, Holley Sniper fuel injection, March Performance pulleys, Hooker headers, dual exhaust, a custom center console, tilt steering, Dakota Digital gauges, a Kenwood touchscreen head unit, JL Audio components, forward and reversing cameras, and Old Air Products air conditioning. This modified Bel Air convertible is now offered with refurbishment photos and a Georgia title in the seller’s name.
The car has been refinished in two-tone red and white and features a power-operated white convertible top that was replaced during the aforementioned refurbishment. Other equipment includes a hood ornament, chrome bumpers and trim, and backup lights. The driver-side mirror is broken.
Chrome-finished five-spoke 22″ wheels from Intro Wheels are mounted with 245/30 front and 295/25 Lexani tires. Wilwood disc brakes with red calipers are located at each corner, and a Wilwood master cylinder is found under the hood. The front suspension features QA1 coilovers and tubular control arms, and the rear end utilizes leaf springs and Bilstein shocks.
The cabin features a split-folding front bench seat upholstered in red leather with contrasting white sections, and the color scheme carries over to the rear seat, the door panels, and the custom center console, which has cupholders and a display screen for the front and rear cameras. Other interior appointments include red carpeting and floor mats, Old Air Products climate control, an analog clock, and lap belts. A Bluetooth-compatible Kenwood touchscreen head unit offers navigation and is wired to aftermarket speakers in the kick panels and the rear side panels.
An aftermarket steering wheel with a red rim is attached to a chrome-finished tilting column. Dakota Digital gauges are composed of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and readouts monitoring coolant temperature, oil pressure, battery voltage, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 4,400 miles, which is side to reflect the distance accumulated under current ownership.
Trimmed to match the interior, the trunk compartment houses a JL Audio 10″ subwoofer and amplifier as well as the car’s battery.
The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 was installed in 2021 under current ownership and features Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, a Texas Speed & Performance Stage 2 camshaft, a March Performance serpentine pulley system, MSD Street Fire ignition coils, a Spectre cold-air intake, an aluminum radiator, electric cooling fans, and Hooker headers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed 4L60E automatic transmission and a narrowed Ford 9” rear end. The dual exhaust system has Borla mufflers and terminates under the car, just ahead of the rear axle.
