This 1955 Chevrolet 210 Townsman four-door wagon was built into a drag car in the 1980s and raced in various NHRA events in California through the mid-2010s under the moniker “Die Hard.” It is powered by a 440ci Chrysler V8 mated to a Torqueflite 727 three-speed automatic transmission and rides on a partial tube-frame chassis. The body is finished in gray and features a one-piece fiberglass front end, a hood scoop, and tubbed rear wheel wells. Inside, the stripped cabin houses a single bucket seat with a multi-point harness along with a custom roll cage. The engine is fitted with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and an Indy high-rise intake manifold as well as long-tube headers flowing into a side-exit exhaust system. Further equipment includes Centerline two-piece wheels, QA1 coilovers, Wilwood front disc brakes, a Hurst shifter, and a narrowed rear end. Acquired by the seller as a project in 2024, this running and driving Tri-5 drag car is now offered at no reserve in Emeryville, California, with a collection of memorabilia and spare parts on a bill of sale.
The car rides on a partial tube-frame chassis and features a one-piece fiberglass front end with a custom hood scoop. An independent front suspension setup with tubular A-arms is paired with a narrowed rear end and ladder bars out back, while QA1 adjustable coilovers are fitted at all four corners.
The bodywork is finished in gray with “Steve Parrish” and “Die Hard” graphics painted on the front doors and rear quarter panels. The headlights have been removed and no front bumper is installed, while a split tailgate and chrome bumper are retained out back
Two-piece Center Line wheels are mounted with Moroso DS-2 tires up front and Goodyear Eagle drag slicks out back. Wilwood disc brakes have been added up front, and drums are retained at the rear.
The stripped cabin houses a single fixed-back bucket seat with a multi-point harness, and a three-spoke steering wheel is paired with a Hurst shifter mounted to the transmission tunnel. Instrumentation consists of an AutoMeter tachometer and Auto Gage auxiliary gauges as well as a shift light atop the dash. The car is not equipped with an odometer, and true mileage is thus unknown.
A custom roll cage with door bars has been added along with ribbed aluminum rear wheel tubs, while steel panels line the floors and firewall.
The hood tilts forward to reveal the 440ci Chrysler V8, which is said to have been installed in 1985. The engine is fitted with a single Holley four-barrel carburetor atop an Indy high-rise intake manifold and is equipped with an MSD ignition system. An oil cooler and an aluminum radiator with an electric puller fan are installed up front, and the side-exit exhaust system is comprised of long-tube headers emptying into aftermarket mufflers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Torqueflite 727 three-speed automatic transmission and a solid rear axle.
A collection of trophies, plaques, and other memorabilia will accompany the car
The chassis number—VB55O028718—is consistent with a 1955 Chevrolet 210 assembled in Oakland, California, with a V8 engine.
The car does not have a title and is offered on a bill of sale.
