This 1955 Chevrolet two-door hardtop was refurbished and modified during a five-year build completed in 2008 under prior ownership. The body was refinished in bronze and white during the build, the rear wheel wells were widened, and the interior was re-trimmed in coordinated leather upholstery. Power is provided by a 400ci V8 that was rebuilt after the seller purchased the car in 2016, and the engine is linked to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a 9″ rear end with 4.11:1 gears. Chassis modifications include tubular front control arms, rack-and-pinion steering, and front disc brakes. This ’55 Chevrolet hardtop is now offered with a Kansas title in the seller’s name.
The body was refinished in bronze and white during the refurbishment under prior ownership, at which time the quarter panels were replaced according to the seller. Details include hooded headlights, Bel Air badging and stainless moldings, chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets with turn-down tips. The seller notes touched-up paint chips on the front surfaces.
Chrome-plated 15″ Cragar S/S wheels are wrapped in 215/65 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires up front and 29×12.5″ Hoosier Pro Street tires out back. A mini-tub kit has been installed for tire clearance in the trunk, and the car is equipped with tubular front control arms, power rack-and-pinion steering, and front disc brakes with rear drums.
The cabin features a split-folding front bench seat upholstered in bronze leather with white inserts and “55” embroidery. Interior appointments include an AM radio, an under-dash air conditioning system, lap belts, floor mats, and vent windows.
The trunk was upholstered to match the interior in 2019, and an Optima battery is mounted behind the bowtie-accented trim panel.
The Impala-style steering wheel frames a Dakota Digital instrument panel with 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The small-block 400ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt in 2017 and is topped with a polished Edelbrock intake manifold and a Holley four-barrel carburetor as well as a B&M intake scoop. An HEI distributor is installed along with a Concept One serpentine drive accessory system, finned valve covers, and coated headers feeding into a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end with 4.11:1 gearing.
The Kansas title displays a “Not Actual” mileage notation.
